History of Red Bull Ring – Spielberg

Located in Spielberg, the Red Bull Ring circuit has a fascinatingly rich history that spans several decades. When it first opened in 1969, the Red Bull Ring racetrack was named the Österreichring Circuit. Soon after the first race, the circuit became a prominent venue for hosting events like Formula One and motorcycle racing. In the mid-1990s, the Österreichring Circuit went through significant reconstructions and remolding and reopened in 1996 as the A1-Ring. The new circuit was much shorter and modernized and served as the main menu to host the Austrian Grand Prix from 1997 to 2003. After hosting its last Grand Prix in 2003, the circuit fell into despair and was closed for the foreseeable future. However, soon it was purchased by Red Bull's Dietrich Mateschitz, who renovated the racetrack and reopened it in 2011, under the name the Red Bull Ring. After the reopening, MotoGP made a comeback to the circuit and has since held the Austrian Motorcycle Grand Prix there since then.

Lined with 10 turns, the circuit features significant elevation changes, adding an extra dose of challenge for the riders.
