History of the Monaco Circuit

As iconic as the Monaco Circuit is, it comes as no surprise that its history is a rich and storied one. The development of the Circuit de Monaco began in 1929 under the supervision of its designer Antony Noghes who was a local resident and a wealthy cigarette manufacturer. Noghes was the man who arranged the first Monaco Grand Prix, with the support of Prince Louis II on April 14, 1929, William Grover-Williams became the first driver to conquer the iconic Monaco Circuit in the first race of 1920. In 1950, the Monaco Circuit became the second track to receive Formula 1 after Silverstone. Since then, the Monaco Circuit has hosted 78 F1 Grand Prix races.
