The USA Grand Prix falls among the most prestigious events on the Formula One calendar and has been a part of the championship on and off since 1959. Throughout its history, the event has been held at various locations including Indianapolis, Sebring, Phoenix, Riverside, and Watkins Glen. The Circuit of the Americas, located in Austin, Texas is a premier motor racing venue. The 5.513-long circuit sits atop 1,500 acres of Texan hills and features 20 high-speed and challenging turns. The circuit saw its first race in 2012 and has been going strong since then. This circuit is a unique one, because not only does it host thrilling races but also has facilities like an Observation Towe, a Grand Plaza, and the Germania Insurance Amphitheater where several events like concerts are held.

History of Circuit of the Americas

In the late 2000s, the idea to develop a grand circuit was conceived, with the goal of establishing state-of-the-art racing fancily in the States. After numerous challenges and several setbacks, the Circuit of the Americas started consecution on December 31st, 2010. Designed by Hermann Tilke, in collaboration with Kevin Schwantz and Tavo Hellmund, the grand racetrack finished construction in 2012 and hosted its first Formula One United States Grand Prix. Since that day, the circuit has gone on to host several events apart from Formula One like NASCAR, FIA World Endurance Championship, and MotoGP.

Sitting atop rolling hills just outside Austin, the Circuit of the Americas is surrounded by the stunning beauty of Texas which serves as the perfect backdrop for racing. The circuit is 5.513 km long and features significant elevation changes, with an elevation gain of 41 meters. There are 20 turns along the length of the circuit, several of which like Turns 3, 6, 12, 13, and 15 are quite iconic.
